Hi everyone,

i am trying to delete a database 'Assist'. i have:

i created this database using the db configuration assistant. all worked fine. as this was just a test db, i thought i would delete it through dbca, and this, i think is were my problems started as it has only done a partial delete.

the assist database is visible in OEM, but i cannot connect into it (SID given in connect descriptor could not be resolved). the references are in tnsnames.ora and listner.ora are there, the service oracleserviceassist is started, all the datafiles are there.

i have tried to recreate the sid with oradim - no go. tried to delete it with oradim - no go.

what do i need to check? how can i delete this bl**dy database?

all help thankfully received.

p.s. a grateful acknowlegement to Howard J Rogers, Niall Litchfield and Sybrand Bakker who always seem to contribute to the oracle newgroups :) thanks for taking the time to help us all out. Received on Tue Feb 24 2004 - 23:17:40 CST
