Buffer cache hit ratio is a MIPS (Meaningless Indicator of the Performance of the System). If you increase the buffer cache in size you will likely also increase page faulting. So your attempts to increase the BCH might decrease the total performance. If there is no one complaining, stay away from it and leave it unchanged.
