Installing Client (Sql*Net...) from 9.x to 8.1.7

Hi all,

I have a Windows XP Pro PC with an Oracle 9.x client installed in. Now I have to remove the 9.x to put 8.1.7 client in place of it. I uninstalled the 9.x client succesfully, but when I try to install the 8.1.7 it stops itself at 92%.
Have I to remove manually something or does it exist a tool for a clean removing of 9.x clients?
