Apologies... Sybrand's original reply hasn't yet come through.

So I'll reply to it here, and deal with Charles' question later.

Which is precisely what the original poster was running on. So whose was the more accurate response Sybrand?

It is a statement of the bleeding obvious that the option won't be there if you are connecting to a non-9i database, since the use of the online catalog is a *9i new feature* (as I posted some time back).

As I've said to you in the past, Sybrand, I don't attempt to make you look like an idiot, because you do such a wonderful job of that yourself. You post statements such as "well why doesn't it work for me', 'it's simply not true' and 'maybe this is only true if you patch to a certain level', and the fact is it's a core piece of 9i enhancement to Logminer functionality. No patching required. It is simply true. And all your bombast won't change that.

And if you feel slightly foolish for finally having read the documentation and discovered the facts of the matter, and realised the extent of your own ignorance on it, that's your look-out, not mine.

Maybe *you* could admit that this statement you originally made:

"You can't use the system catalog for the logminer dictionary. That's just how logminer works"

...is one hundred percent incorrect, then? Particularly when you might remember that the original poster was running on Oracle 9i Release 2. Whose was the more appropriate post, then... me who assumed he was on 9i (which he was) or your massive (and incorrect) generalisation from a particular non-applicable configuration you happen to have access to?

The facts speak for themselves, Sybrand. You didn't know what you were talking about, and you got called on it. Instead of having a go at me for pointing out the facts of the matter, perhaps you could take the time to find them out for yourself and stop posting errors in the first place.
