For a production database is preferable IMHO to NOT have the example
schemas & other schemas relating to unused Oracle options (OLAP,
Spatial, Data Mining etc.).
I do however leave the features that Oracle now considers 'standard' (JVM, Intermedia, Text and XML DB), though until I find a need to use it I do disable the XML DB protocols as recommended in an Oracle Security alert.
The downside is that there are no 'canned' data files for this so all the dictionary & JVM build scripts get run which does take a while. On the other hand, this is a good way to prove your Oracle installation.
