There are a number of logs to look at in your oracle software directory.

  1. oradim.log - this is the most likely starting place as it is oradim that starts the service.
  2. the alert.log for the database - stores oracle messages (like I can't find file X).
  3. the windows event logs - store windows specific stuff, security failures etc etc.

check these for errors and report back.
