Ahem .... not to distract from one of the more interesting threads currently in this newsgroup but the "B" in "B-trees" stands for either "B"ayer (from Rudolph Bayer et. al, Acta Informatica, 1972, 173-189) or, depending on your perspective, "Boeing" - Bayers employer at the time of the publication.
