I don't think you can go wrong with Solaris/SPARC. It is Oracle's top tier platform and has a long history of reliability and scalability. HP_UX is good but I would not bet too much money on Itanium. It still need time to prove itself. Its scalability and quality of support depends on which vendor you are buying the box from.
