We didn't try Linux+RAC+OCFS (I did have RH Linux+OPS 8.1.7.1 running at home - but you
can't compare that with a heavily loaded production machine)... serveral Oracle people
talked us about switching our wintel RAC to Linux. Personally - I think it's a better combination but
the users and developers we're too frustrated with the whole concept - after a year of
severe problems and lotsa tars... who wouldn't, so play-time was over. In all honesty, I
do not think RAC is a bad product - everything stands and falls with the hardware and
platform you run it on (and the support for that matter) ... and windows is not something
I personally would use for my HA database ! We still have a windows cluster somewhere in the back of our lab ... when we find some time
to play again ... maybe we'll have a crack at Linux+RAC+OCFS :-)
