I just got another "Oracle Unbreakable Linux" advertisement in the mail. The one interesting thing about it was that Oracle claimed that they would support the Linux source code as well as the Oracle source code - they guaranteed that they could fix any problem on the platform. The pointed out that Linux was the *only* platform where they could make this guarantee.

I heard that Larry Ellison was extremely upset when HPC announced that Tru64 would be end-of-lifed. Even though PA-RISC contributes some of the leading Oracle TPC marks, Oracle promotes Linux ahead of HP proprietary UNIX. I think that your experience shows why - Oracle can control their own destiny with Linux.
