Well, (at the risk of raising ire) in terms of learning, that's a fair point.

But day to day, generally the same problem has been solved before, so I must confess that the first question I ask myself is "Where have I seen this? Can I copy and adapt some old code?".

Usually the old code I copy and adapt is my own, but not always.
