If you Oracle is 8.0.x/8.1.x/9.x.

In Oracle distribution you got
Legato Storage Manager for Oracle,
a free tool to save RMANs backupsets.

LSM for Oracle has lots of drivers
to TAPES, such DLT, DDS...

RMAN making online/offline backups of
database direct to TAPE via LSM.

Witch LSM for Oracle you got
a Media Manager and special module
to integrate witch Oracle(RMAN).
