You may be able to achieve the desired results by creating a clone of
the unicode database and then applying the logs. Theoretically, you are
able to redefine the characterset of the database this way (rebuilding
the control file), but it would definately be a test the first time.
The definative word here is "may".
If you wanted them to stay in synch - I would consider replication.
