If you are in such a system, you better have 64-bit hardware and a proper 64-bit OS. In that case, your limit won't be 2Gb but more like the next "bug" boundary: 64Gb. The important thing is to not set the filesize RIGHT on the boundary: that's where you expose yourself to "off-by-one" bugs.
