For cost, go to store.oracle.com.

Be aware that there are two server version of Oracle, so (from the Oracle site) get documents that differentiate between the two and decide which is the best for you (and your pocket!).

Also, I'd recommend to always get the latest and greatest, and that is Oracle 9i Release 2.

As for the "helps"... Oracle has a migration tool. You should probably download a development/test version from the internet (technet.oracle.com) and do a test migration so you can see if you;re going to have any problems.

As to specific help, you're better off trying the migration and then seeing what problems, if any, you run into.

Also, a big suggestion: If you know nothing about Oracle, you're better off if you hire a consultant DBA to tune your new Oracle database to your initial needs. A miconfigured Oracle will bring you great grief, specially if it is version 8.
