check your alert log for details and see if you are getting an ORA-07445 in there. If so there should be a trace file and probably a core dump as well (but not necessarily !). You should see something like the following :

Errors in file /oracle/oracle817/admin/CMDB/udump/ora_3564_cmdb.trc: ORA-07445: exception encountered: core dump [11] [3221193416] [240] [0] [] []

Obviously, your trace file names will differ.

I'm having a similar problem with nested-nested 'in' clauses on 64 bit Oracle 9i release 2 on 64 bit HPUX 11.00 at the moment and have a TAR open. So far, Oracle Support have been able to reproduce it on other OS and versions of Oracle and think I might just have found a bug.

The problem is, it seems to work ok on 32 bit systems and you are running on Windows - which will be 32 bit (won't it ?).
