'Sfunny. "Academic" can mean "pie in the skie, ivory tower, of no relevance to the real world" or it can mean "informed, intelligent, aware".

Not sure what usage you're referring to. IMHO, the more academic Oracle debate gets, the happier I shall be (see meaning (2)).
