thanx for the answers, but none of them leads me to the answer :( docs are so long, so much...
is multiversioning really better than locking? (how is it realized?) why is sql server then so much better than oracle in tpc-c?

how does other db's solve this?

sybase: i would say locking
informix?
db2?
