I think there is a general lack of understanding of what "supported" means.
Got Oracle versions 7, 8i and 9i running here. Which *are all* supported by
Oracle.
Oracle will, and here's the rub, *have always* supported their product,
whatever version it is.
I have always received help from Oracle for, all versions, and I know I
always will.
What Oracle will not do, is provide further software patches for
"unsupported" versions.
Caveat, Make sure your most experienced and knowledgable DBA speaks to
Oracle,
they are not a substitute for training or consultancy.
I have always had great support from the UK.
