I haven't administered DB2 databases, but I feel that you can't separate
the differences in features when talking about the differences in
administering database systems. If one system lacks a certain feature
that another system has, then the first system can become harder to
administer simply because one has to work around the lack of features.
Since I don't know didly about DB2, I'll just give an example in Oracle.
Oracle 9i introduced many features to make administration of the
database easier when compared to 8i, such as Automated Undo Management,
Automatic Segment Space Management, Dynamic SGA, etc. These different
features make administration different on the two different versions of
the same vendor's database.
