Never tried but maybe it works...

well every night you would have to shutdown your primary database then copy redo logs, restart your instance and transfer archivedlogs and redo logs to the target database and recover it.

btw: you could have some troubles with controlfile; i cant try this now, sorry.

Another solution is to upgrade to oracle 8i and use stand by database for your backup location (with 8i you can query from the standby database)
