Dave,

OS signal 11 is a SIGSEGV - segmentation violation ie the process tried to address a valid address, that it was not allowed to address.

It can come about for a number of reasons, including stack growth failure ie the process trying to grow its stack past the ulimit or maxssiz (32-bit) limits.

The kernels 64-bit stack parameter is maxssiz_64bit (if your database is 64-bit).

But in the context of an ORA-07745, I think you should check with Oracle support.

The several times I've seen this Oracle error, it was fixed by Oracle. eg modifying the fast_start_io_target init.ora param on an 8.0.5 database, or known bugs.

Regards,

Eric Stahl
