Has anyone had simular problems with Oracle 8.1.5 (8i) database on an HP-UX 11.00 server. I have the PMON process id hang, and the database has to be restarted, it does not happen all the time, but only once or twice a month, at different times of the day or night. This is the following error I get:

Dump file /opt/app/oracle/xxxx/logs/<db_name>/pmon_20200.trc Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.5.0.0 - Production With the Partitioning and Java options
PL/SQL Release 8.1.5.0.0 - Production
ORACLE_HOME = /opt/app/oracle/xxxx/product/8.1.5

System name:	HP-UX
Node name:	<host_name>
Release:	B.11.00
Version:	B
Machine:	9000/889

Instance name: <db_name>
Redo thread mounted by this instance: 1
Oracle process number: 2
Unix process pid: 20200, image: oracle@<host_name> (PMON)

I've done a "strings" command on the core dump file but can't tell what the error is. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you,
