Well, not exactly. OTN versions are bound to Development License, which explicitly says that the software may only be used for development purposes by one person on one computer. It cannot be used for anything else, including production systems and/or internal data processing. So it's not that you will eventually want support and will pay for it - you are actually limited in ways you can use the software. I am not sure if using OTN versions to recover lost media for licensed software is legit - there is some saying in dev license that it overrides any shrink-wrap license... Well, I'm not a lawyer (and doubt I will ever want to be one), so take my words with a good deal of salt. :)
