oracle9i and oracle8i on one server

I just installed Oracle9i (9.2.0.1.0) on a Windows 2000 server that had Oracle8.1.7 installed before. During the Oracle9i installation, I got an error saying the node cannot be found. After installation, the OracleSID9iAgent service failed to start. But, if I stop the OracleSID8iAgent service, I can start OracleSID9iAgent.

Besides, even OracleSID9iAgent is started, I still get errors in nmiconf.log file saying
DBSNMP for 32-bit Windows: release 9.2.0.0.0 - Production on 19-JUL-02 14:27:03
Discovering services on JDEAPPS configured on host addresses {JDEAPPS 170.777.115.77}
Warning : Error while sourcing third party discovery file emddiscover.tcl : unable to get value "em_loc" from key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Oracle": The system cannot find the file specified.

  1. How can I make the two Agents run on the same server? If there is a port conflection, how can I fix it?
  2. Can I make some changes to just run one Agent for both instances (Oracle8i and Oracle9i)?
  3. How to fix the problem stated in nmiconf.log file? If you can point me to some post/document, it will be appreciated.
  4. How can I run just one Listener service for the two instances?

Thanks a lot for your help. Received on Fri Jul 19 2002 - 17:21:09 CDT
