sqlplus authentication hanging Oracle 9.2.0.1

Fellow Oracle Netters:

I installed Oracle Database Enterprise 9.2.0.1 in a UltraSparc 60 running Solaris8 for evaluation.

The Java installation script never reported any errors; it went semingly smooth. I started and checked the basic services, tns listener, intelligent agent runs OK, the oem server runs OK, Oracle httpd servers OK.

I logged in to the instance (sqlplus) without any problem. Created users, tables, indexes, etc ie played for a while without any problems, everything OK.

I left the machine with several sqlplus clients running.

After 2 days or so, no user except SYS (as a sysdba) could be logged in sqlplus. (Not even scott/tiger, system, etc) (sqlplus asks for the username and password and then hangs indefinetely)

The previously started sqlplus sessions (different users, sys, etc) all were running and responding correctly, but any new sqlplus session hangs.

I have another instance running on the same server running without this sqlplus problem. Same SGA and init parameters.

I bounced the database , (via sys since it is the only one could log into sqlplus) and again all users could log-in into sqlplus without any problems, after two days or so, the same story.

I rechecked the SGA parameters, specially verified the size of the shared pool area and big pool area sizes, which were exactly the same as the ones of the instance without this problem. Also, I verified the users still had the connect role granted, and they did.

Is there a specific setting/parameter that I should look for?

Sharing any advice/ideas/experiences will be greatly appreciated.
