In article <afsffj$7mb$1_at_fe2.cs.interbusiness.it>, you said (and I quote):

> I'm a newbie on Oracle.

All right, then.

First rule in this newsgroup:

Always, and I MEAN ALWAYS, include which version of Oracle you are running, down to the last digit.
And which platform (NT, Unix, whatever) and OS level you are running Oracle on.

It may sometimes sound like it is not relevant but just believe one thing on face value: it IS important. Just remember this: Oracle is the most ported relational database out there. The number of different computer architectures it supports and works on is staggering. Do not assume that yours is the only one.

> How to create multiple instances?

Pete already answered that one. It is also dependent on the operating system you are running Oracle on.

> Could you help me?

Yes. But you need to provide more information.

Follow Howard's advice: read the Oracle Concepts manual (as much of it as you can) and try to understand what an instance is, what a database is, what a schema is. It is NOT a wasted effort: the benefit in terms of reduction of problems in your professional life will be amazing.

The manual is available on-line if you don't feel like installing the one in the CD-ROM that most likely came with your Oracle software.
