symptom: Import fails
symptom: IMP-00003: ORACLE error %lu encountered

symptom: ORA-01874: Time zone hour must be between -12 and 13 symptom: File is transferred using ftp
cause: The dump file was corrupted, because it was transferred from host to another using ftp in character mode (ASCII). The error is misleading, because EET is an acceptable value for TZ environment variable.

fix: Transfer dump file in binary mode. .
