I'd say quite the contrary. Many of the 8i and 9i new features depend
entirely on a bunch of PL/SQL packages (flashback, workspace manager,
resource manager, log miner etc etc). I really can't see them doing all
that, and then turning round and saying it was all a horrible mistake.
PL/SQL is likely to remain the 'native' development language of choice for ages yet.
