Don't forget that the old myth about block size being dependent on the
nature of the database is, er... a myth. 8K for Unix is appropriate
whatever the database is being used for.
Check out articles on the subject at my site, or (for a more technical approach) www.ixora.com.au, and look for an article called 'why a large database block size'.
