You asked for it so here it comes:

Standard Edition can only run on a box with a capability less then or equal to 4 processors.

Ex: if you 2000 box in any way shape or form can have over 4 procs in it then you must get enterprise edition.

THeres a chart for the differences between the two versions but theres too much to paste here, so here is the link:

For 300-500 concurrent users it will definetly be cheaper to license under the processor model rather then the named user model.
