Unfortunately, I can't change the configuration... I'm pretty much stuck with what I've got for the moment, but if I get the chance to use the "real" version, I will.

I have joined technet, and my post here is in desperation. It's not that I've just hit a problem, not bothered to try and find out anything for myself and asked a stupid question on here! I do know it looks a bit rubbish.....I'm having major problems with the software before it's even set up properly. Just imagine what it'll be like when I've started working with Oracle!

So for anyone with experience of setting up personal edition:

The one question I'd like answered (to start off with!) is should the values regarding the host name and port no. for the service name and the listener be the same?

Otherwise,

Does anyone have a failsafe way of setting up the listener / service name that I might not have tried?
