Morning Tom,

Sorry, I have no other suggestions. My problems were solved when I re-FTPd in binary.
I've got very little experience with Solaris I'm afraid, we are mostly an HP installation.

The only possible reason I can think of, is quite simply that the file has been corrupted somehow.
What happens if you try and WinUnzip it on an NT/WIN2k box with WinZip (or a clone). I find that it is sometimes able to extract the data.

Good luck.

Regards,
Norman.

I was thinking that was a possibility when you mentioned it, but I checked
and infact did switch to bin. I was also thinking it could be that my gunzip
was 32bit, but it is the one that is prepackaged with the Solaris 8 release
which is 64 bit. 8i-sun is 32 bit only, correct? (8.1.7) Any other ideas?
