Error 5: Access Denied (Services)

Oracle 8.1.7 Enterprise Edition
Windows 2000 Advanced Server

I re-installed Oracle on W2K Advanced Server. I am logged on as Administrator. When I try to start any of the Oracle services (for example the Listener), I get the message "Error 5: Access Denied". I can start the other Windows services without problems.

I looked in the installation guide and couldn't find anything. I also searched google groups and found other folks in the same situation, but the suggested solutions don't really apply to my situation, namely:

the server is not a PDC
the server is not a DHCP managed server
the Administrator has the access right "Log on as service"

Does anyone have any other ideas?
