This is a glibc problem.


Oracle has a patch on their web site.


RedHat 7+ uses glibc 2.2


whereas Oracle 8.1.7 uses glibc 2.1.3



This affects anyone using the 2.4 kernel.



It's recommended you stick with RH 6.2 however Oracle 9i is not supposed to
have this problem.
