Auditing session identifier

Hi,

Sorry for sending this message twice :-)

I need to obtain from Oracle a unique identifier of the current session. The session ID, as displayed by OEM, is not very usefull in my case, as it

starts from 1 when the instance is restarted. I have found something interesting, the function SYS_CONTEXT ('USERENV', 'SESSIONID'), which gives back the 'auditing session identifier'.

Can someone explain what is exactly this value, and if I can rely on it to

obtain always the same value during all the session, and different values for different sessions?

Thanks.
