Simon,
define the TNS_ADMIN variable at the system level, then copy the oracle 9i server's tnsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora files to your TNS_ADMIN directory. Also ensure that other related oracle environment variables such as ORACLE_SID, TWO_TASK, FORMS60_PATH, ORACLE_PATH, etc. defined. Then you will be able to connect to your database from within Forms 6i. I have no problem on a W2K machine (you can do the same on a Solaris or Linux machine).
