Sean,

assuming you just want to restore the current database back to an old one, then simply delete the datafiles from the d:\prod\db folder and restore from tape. BUT ...

If you did all that, then simply restore every data, control, redo and init files back to where they came from and startup - at least that is what I do on Unix.

It is a good idea to take a full cold backup of the present database though - in case they decide to go 'forward' again.
