Guid DTS Oracle - Raw or Varchar2?

I'm trying to DTS an SQL Table to Oracle. I'm receiving an error on the GUID column. I'm copying it to a Raw(16) field within Oracle. What about a Varchar2 (32). I heard it is not recommended, but I need to know why if not.
