Hi all,
I installed and i'm working with oracle9i on the suze distribution 7.1. The only problem that you may encounter (i think) is that your swap device, your /tmp device or the memory is too small. The file temp8 is normally written in /tmp/OraInstall during the installation and read for installation. So if your /tmp is full, may be the file Temp8 was not written correctly.

I suggest to you to have a least 1 Go (Memory + swap) and 900 Mo or more for /tmp.

Good luck and e-mil me if you have the same problem.
