How to deal with tera bytes with 2G data files?

Dear all,

I heard that many OS's have 2G or so data file size limit, therefore we tend to chop the tablespaces into 2G-byte data file pieces. This is fine for tens of giga bytes. However, if the data is tera bytes or tens of tera bytes as is in telephone billing systems or weather simulation systems or genome analysis systems, how will the data file size be? Anyone knows this? Thanks in advance.
