John,

I would strongly recommend that you use a media manager (e.g. Veritas NT Backup Exec)
for this purpose.

Alternatively, you could create a hot backup script that operated on a tablespace at a time, datafile at a time, copied one file to disk, and wrote that off to tape via the ntbackup command.

IMHO - ntbackup in W2K is a real PITA.
Pick up a media manager.

if not, check out the NT scripting Black book for examples, or just use

C:\> ntbackup /?

for info on the command line parameters. Its not pretty.
