Michael,

I've had the same issue when we upgraded from Access97 to 2000 ODBC--Call failed
I've found quick workaround: save the password when linking the tables. To minimize security breaches, I created a user in Oracle with minimum privileges. Use NT's security to limit the access to the database (Access2000) as well.
It solved 95% of ODBC failures.
