I couldn't agree more. We were told by Oracle six years ago that the RBO would cease to exist in Oracle 8, and that all development should be done with the CBO in mind. They went further to say that for apps developed along the lines of our app, FIRST_ROWS was the ideal choice.

Who knows when they'll fix it ... poor Larry must be having a hard time poaching any of the DB2 optimiser people :-)
