You people are pissing up a rope. The major difference here, in this discussion, is that the IBM responses are considered, careful, and polite. This Nuno Souto person delights in name calling, obvious sales trumps by Oracle and his own VERY limited experiences.

The truth of the matter is that ORACLE is an old technology, re-written on MANY different platforms, with differing code bases. That's from an Oracle engineer who happens to be my friend. But none of the contenders here will believe that, so WTF do I care? Eh?

UDB is taking market share from ORACLE because it is better and cheaper. The marketplace is where one wins, NOT in a silly rant about "my penis is bigger than yours, you idiot" - which is precisely what this has degenerated into.

Have fun boys, you sure need it.

Note to IBM folks: I admire your restraint.
