I'm running 8.1.7 on Solaris 8 (32 bit) with servers connected to a D1000 disk array. The whole point of OPS is to allow both servers to see the same database on the same logical volumes, although they are separate instances.

The logical volumes (Veritas in my case) were created in shared mode and the SCSI is handled by using differential SCSI, where the SCSI id on the 2nd node is usually changed ( from id 5 to id 7 ).

The volumes do have to be raw, as that is required by OPS. This is handled nicely by the Veritas GUI (vmsa). It may be possible, with newer versions, to use the Quick I/O although I have not seen anything to this effect. I believe the raw volumes is an OS independent requirement.

Good luck,
