Well, it was a bit overemphazised. I think there are several incarnations for various forms of a connect string. E.g. When the service is not defined locally (via an definition in TNSNAMES.ORA), is it possible to give a server hostname and the SID or whatever name on the serverhost?

It was merely thought as a reminder or sticker I can put at the side of my computer monitor. That's what I meant by 'reference card'.
