Need Patches for Solaris 8 with Oracle 8.1.7?

Hello.
Am installing Oracle8i 8.1.7 on a Solaris 8 (sparc) system. Have read the "Oracle 8i Release Notes" (Rel 3 for 8.1.7 for Sun SPARC Solaris). It lists
Solaris patches that should be applied for the JRE and JDK.

Are these patches required for Solaris 8 or only when running on Solaris 7 or 2.6? The Oracle8i Installation Guide does not mention anything re Solaris 8 at all.

Anyone have any experience with this combination?
