Hi,
I am facing similar problem, and the difference between my versions are even smaller
exp from 8.1.6 on a linux RH6.2 box
imp to 8.1.5 on a Sol2.6/E250
My understanding is that the only solution is to upgrade from 8.1.5 to 8.1.6 Is that true ?

We may be talking bizarre o/s-specific quirks that mean that this is so, but it certainly isn't the general case. The general case remains that higher-version of the export/import executables cannot be applied to a lower version of the database, but a lower-version of the executable can be applied against a higher version of the database.

Hence I can run exp73 against an 8.1.5 database (and I've done it). That generates a 7.3-compliant export dump file, which can then be imported into the 7.3 database (if you've used any of the new features in 8i, of course, you lose them in the translation).

You cannot, however, (at least reliably) run exp (version 8.1.5) against the 7.3 database.

In your specific case, you can use the 8.1.5 executables against the 8.1.6 database to generate an 8.1.5-compliant dump file. The fact that you are crossing O/Ses at the same time might not allow that to work, though.

Incidentally, please don't post in HTML... it makes plain text replies a pain in the neck to sort out.
