I blew up my NT4.0 registry will
recovering from a bad VB6 install. Had
to do a parallel install to recover. No file problems occurred and my
Oracle8.0.5 installation appears to be
intact.

Went through the following from the
command prompt in C:\orant\bin:

SET ORACLE_HOME=C:\ORANT\DBS
SET
ORACLE_SID=C:\ORANT\DATATBASE\INITORCL.ORA ORADIM80 -STARTUP -SID ORCL -PFILE
C:\ORANT\DATABASE\INITORCL.ORA -USRPWD
oracle -STARTTYPE SRVC, INST

Oradim80 started to do its stuff, but I
received an access violation from the
Dr. Watson utility.

Just learning Oracle and I have not
changed any default settings.

Did I follow the correct procedures?
Did I leave anything out? Any other
ways to start re-using Oracle without
wiping out my current database? Received on Sat Oct 14 2000 - 20:05:08 CDT
